OMAHA, NE – The Nebraska Logistics Council awarded four $500 scholarships at their annual fundraiser, August 16, 2019 at Miracle Hills Golf Course in Omaha. The Nebraska Logistics Council’s mission is to give members new ideas and opportunities to grow in the logistics field. Members can network and exchange ideas, striving to help logistics professionals excel in their positions. The Nebraska Trucking Association is the provider of effective information, services and advocacy to Nebraska trucking companies and affiliated businesses. Paul Lucht Body Shop team took first place and the Kiewit team took second during the golf event.
Recipients were:
Angela Leach from Millard West High School plans to study marketing at UNO. The accomplished gymnast, teaches martial arts, plays the mellophone in band and teaches toddlers and kindergartners at church Angela’s parents are Doug, an airline mechanic and Jill, an import/export agent.
Jarrett Klein has attended the Millard Business Logistics Management academy for two years. There, he helped run and organize the Food Bank at Millard Horizon. He also worked an internship at Werner Enterprises last summer. Jarrett’s mom, Michelle, is an office manager and his dad, Keith, is in sales. He’s planning on a supply chain emphasis at UNL. Jarret loves bowhunting, woodworking and is on the Millard West Lacrosse Team.
Nicholas Anderson of Millard West High School is the co-president of DECA where he won a state award for his business plan. He has volunteered with Parkinson’s Nebraska and Flood Relief fundraisers. Nicholas is on the honor roll and earned a logistics career certificate. Nicholas’ mother, Shelly, is an administrative assistant and his father, Raymond is a business owner. He’s planning on taking Business Administration with a Supply Chain emphasis at UNL.
Summer Rivera of Metropolitan Community College has been working on business logistics management while working as a shift leader at Hy-Vee. She’s on the National Honor Society, earned a letter in academics and completed an internship at TSL last summer. Summer has volunteered with blind children and raised money for programs at Millard South. Summer’s father, Ricardo is a transport manager and her mom, Kimberly is an accounting leader.
