NEBRASKA – As companies scramble to overcome health care premiums that increase by double digits every year, an association in Lincoln, Neb. is tackling the program head on for its members.
“The trucking industry has been operating under a heavy weight of health care uncertainty,” said Kent Grisham, president and CEO of the Nebraska Trucking Association. “Historically, associations were formed to fight for its members. By organizing in numbers, we can lift each other up.”
The Nebraska Trucking Association has partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield to form the Nebraska Trucking Association Health Benefits Alliance. This will bring an ACA compliant health plan with open enrollment starting this month and an effective date of February 1st.. An NTA member, MBA Agency, has established a statewide network of agents who will visit NTA members and assist with sign-ups, answering every question along the way.
The NTA Health Benefits Alliance boasts big benefits:
- •Affordability: By obtaining health insurance as a trucking industry group, employers can obtain more affordable coverage, thanks to the economies of scale with better savings and a spreading of risk.
- Flattening Spikes: Annual rate fluctuations are less dramatic every year when a group presents a stable environment. That comes from a consortium of employees who participate and enjoy stability of a larger group.
- Family Focus: Each employer in the NTA Health Benefits Alliance has the option of getting family and dependents covered.
- Choices: Each employer in the NTA Health Benefits Alliance has options of the type of plan that works best for its employees like high deductible or low deductible plans.
So… how is this administered?
MBA Agency is already working directly with members of the NTA to determine the best plan choice, as well as handling enrollments and other issues. Many NTA members have already received a visit on the plan. . Ongoing education will be available at www.nebtrucking.com/benefits, but, more importantly, MBA offers a friendly voice on the other end of your call.
