2021 PRESS RELEASE

TRUCK SERVICES INC APPOINTS DAN DOGGETT AS DIRECTOR

The Nebraska Trucking Association is pleased to announce Dan Doggett as Director of Truck Services Inc.

Doggett began his career with the Nebraska State Patrol in 1987, assigned to the Carrier Enforcement Division in North Platte.  He since served in the Patrol/Traffic Division, Carrier Enforcement and Investigative Services in several areas of the state, including Syracuse, Lincoln, North Platte and Omaha.  The commander of the Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement Division, Capt. Doggett retired on June 30 after serving the people of Nebraska for more than 34 years.  Dan followed the footsteps of his father, Jim, who joined the Carrier Enforcement Division in 1968 and retired in 2007 as Captain, Commander of the Carrier Enforcement Division.

Dan’s family is deeply ingrained in the trucking industry. His son owns Doggett Trucking (livestock and grain) from his Palmer, Nebraska farm.  The Doggett family tree also includes Doggett Trucking from Anchorage, Alaska (aggregate), M J Tank Lines from Ventura, California (petroleum transportation for central and southern California), and Doggett Haycoach from Burwell, Nebraska (hay movers).

“I’ve grown up in and around the industry ranging from enforcement, driver and owners.  My dad and uncles were always talking about the trucking industry in some form or fashion” Doggett said.  “The main thing they taught me was that you have to earn peoples trust and not expect it.  I will work hard to show our clients that Truck Services Inc. will continue to provide the best services available.”

Doggett said the trucking industry must maintain safe roads amid constant regulatory and technological changes while balancing the constant demands of moving freight.   Dan was an integral part of the technological improvements at the Waverly and North Platte scale sites.  Dan said the improvements were only possible through the partnership between stakeholders including FMCSA, NDOT, DMV, NSP, the Nebraska Trucking Association, the motor carrier industry and safety groups.

“Retiring from the Patrol was bittersweet,” he said. “I am very proud of being part of the advances we made as a Division and an Agency.  Obviously, I keep in contact with my old teammates at the Patrol but now I get to be part of a great new team here at Truck Services Inc. and the Nebraska Trucking Association.”

Doggett now leads a team of trucking professionals who assist carriers in provide administrative support by performing back-office paperwork like IFTA, 2290 forms, MCS150 and licensing. He said the job is a great opportunity because he can interact with trucking companies from a new angle.

“I’m really enjoying my new role,” he said. “Here, I can help trucking companies get on the road. I can help clear a path through all the back-office forms and paperwork and offer insight along the way. I don’t think there’s another company out there with more expertise than the staff we have here at Truck Services Inc..”

ABOUT DAN DOGGETT

Dan grew up watching his father, Jim, work NSP Carrier Enforcement.  “As a kid, I got to lift the portable scales and see the old dial scale in Greenwood,” he said. “When I joined the patrol in 1987, it’s because I wanted to be like dad.”

Doggett worked Carrier Enforcement until 1990 when he moved to other Divisions within the Patrol which concentrated on drug enforcement, investigations, and traffic.  He said he always kept his eye on his father who was instituting major improvements with Carrier Enforcement, moving the scale from Greenwood to an improved scale at Waverly which included new technologies like weigh-in-motion and PrePass.

Eventually, Doggett returned to Carrier Enforcement and faced the challenges of the 2019 massive floods, COVID-19 Pandemic and initiating new technological developments at the scales.  Doggett said, “those were tough times for everyone, but we Nebraskans take pride in the work we do.  Everyone pulled up their sleeves and just started helping each other out.  The example our citizens and industry displayed makes me so proud to be a Nebraskan!”

He’s held numerous leadership roles with the Patrol and has been recognized for outstanding achievements throughout his career.  He has also been instrumental in special projects like Trooper in a Truck, post-crash investigation courses, technological advances at Nebraska scales, and drug enforcement multi-agency investigations.

When Doggett is home, he coaches baseball for Gretna youth and a member of the Gretna Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  During hockey season, Dan and his wife are billet parents for Omaha Mastery AAA hockey players and in the summer serve as billet parents for the Distinguished Young Women Nebraska program.  Dan and his family attend Riverview Community Church in Ashland, Nebraska.

Dan’s wife, Kim is a real estate agent for Berkshire Hathaway in Papillion and they have four children.  The eldest son Scott (wife Makayla), Nathan (wife Alyssa), daughter Dylan (husband Michael Brune) and the youngest son Hayden.  Dan and Kim are very proud of their four grandchildren Evander, Harlow, Everett and Ayda.
