Good news in the “Truckers versus Bambi” saga

The Nebraska Department of Roads is planning to build an eight-foot deer fence on both sides of Interstate 80 between the Mahoney interchange and Pflug Road in eastern Nebraska. The location has the state’s highest deer-vehicle collision rate. According to the Deer-Vehicle Crash Information and Research Center, deer fences are one of the few effective remedies for reducing deer-vehicle crashes. The information open house on the proposed project will be March 9 from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Atrium at the Nebraska Crossing outlet mall in Gretna.
