Contact Senators Nelson and Johanns on Becker nomination The Senate is scheduled to vote at around 4 p.m. central time today on the nomination of Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board. Among other things, the National Labor Relations Board supervises union organizing campaigns and rules on unfair labor practice charges. Becker is the associate general counsel for both the AFL-CIO and the Service Employees International Union. He is a proponent of the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as “card check,” that would allow employees to unionize without a secret ballot vote. Because of serious concerns regarding Becker’s views, the Nebraska State Chamber urges you to contact Senators Nelson and Johanns and encourage them to vote against cloture on the Becker nomination.
