Brake adjustments
September 9 - Grand Island September 11 - Omaha
ABOUT THE RPOGRAM Brakes continue to be the number one out-of-service vehicle violation during roadside inspections. If a driver’s brakes are found to be out of adjustment when on the road, how does the driver go about adjusting them? Sgt. Bill Linton, Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement, will tell us what troopers look for and how they measure brakes during inspections. There will also be training on how to measure and adjust self-adjusting brakes, how and where to train drivers, and what responsibilities/liabilities come with training drivers.
This is a joint program with the Safety Management Council and the Maintenance Council.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS ~ What troopers look for when doing roadside inspections.
~ Should drivers be trained to adjust self-adjusting brakes while on the road? If not, how should the brakes get adjusted if they are cited during a roadside inspection?
~ What training technicians need to be certified brake inspectors.
